As you know, I am an actress. I am also a PhD candidate in Psychology. Over the past 9 years, I have devoted myself to helping others by working as a Life Coach. The cast will be comprised of 4 beautiful women who all have Doctorate degrees in Psychology. We will weigh in on current events and address psychological issues that afflict our population. The entire aim of the show is to illuminate the human condition in a way that inspires, helps people, and entertains. Our hope is to take the pilot and sell it to the TV networks. We are very excited about what we have created (on a shoestring budget) and we promise to deliver a World-class production. WOOO HOOOOO!! We have raised almost all of our budget to shoot our pilot in September!! We are 91% of the way there to be exact LOL We are thrilled about the support we are receiving. To us, your support translates into feeling believed in and it gives us so much necessary encouragement.
For those of you who haven’t heard yet, my team and I have been diligently working on producing a TV pilot. The working title is “Pillow Talk”. You see, deep in my heart, I feel a burning desire to combine my two careers: Coaching & Acting. So I have partnered up with the incredibly talented Sundance-Award-winning film director, Chusy Haney-Jardine (ANYWHERE USA). We put our heads & hearts together and now have an idea that we believe will both entertain and leave audiences with a delicious “a-ha”‘. The show is racy, fresh, and witty. It is targeted for adult audiences (likely 30+). It will illuminate a part of the human condition that is rarely examined in an honest way. Our dream is to create a pilot and then pitch it to some of our contacts at TV networks. We are devoted to seeing our project on HBO or Showtime. We plan to shoot the pilot in September 2011.
When we decided to embark on this journey, I don’t think I realized just how much work it really was to make a TV show. My Lord, there are so many moving parts! And because we are operating on a micro-budget (in comparison to large Hollywood studios), the work load on each team member is about triple! But I think I can speak for my entire team when I say that WE LOVE WHAT WE ARE DOING! Of course Chusy and his outstanding crew are experts because they have done this plenty of times before, but for me, this is my 1st. And to say there has been a huge learning curve for me, would be an understatement.
What I can say to anyone who has a dream and thinks it may be “too big” to go for it, or who talks themselves out of it because they “don’t know enough about it to make it happen”: PUT YOUR FEAR ASIDE & OBEY YOUR HEART!! I promise you that if you want it bad enough, you WILL figure out a way to make it happen. I won’t lie….at times you may feel like drowning yourself in a bottle of Grey Goose! Here is an incredibly astute quote from a friend of mine, Dan (a very talented producer & filmmaker)
“If you’re lucky, all your artistic endeavors will take more work than you expect. If it were less, than that would be proof that you weren’t ambitious enough. Since it’s more, you are pushed to deliver a greater expression of your talent.” \
Isn’t it great? I love it so much that I have transcribed it onto a yellow sticky-note and it is now on my bathroom mirror. It gives me that necessary kick-in-the-butt that I need after 18 hours of work on a SUNDAY!
